Child trafficking is a global crisis affecting millions of children every year. These young victims are subjected to unimaginable horrors, including forced labor, sexual exploitation, and violence.

Villatoro’s Global Foundation is partnering with Ecofiltro to bring clean, drinkable water to communities, reducing gastrointestinal diseases and dehydration deaths among children. We are dedicated to improving the lives of those in impoverished and underserved areas.

CLAUDIA VILLATORO

Founder/CEO

Claudia Lorena Villatoro Abascal was born in Chicacao, Suchitepéquez, a prosperous town on the southern coast of Guatemala, emigrating to the United States of America in 1993, where she settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico and achieves American citizenship.

In 2001, beginning a life dedicated to business, political and social activities, highlighting her leadership and contributions to peace in Guatemala.

Her business activities in the United States include the establishment of the companies Academy Glass and Tint, Golden Gate Glass and Sky Glass in New Mexico, Villatoro’s Tint Inc. In California and Premiere Glass and Tint in Florida. In 2003 she received the award BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR by President George W.Bush.

In 2009 it participated as Commodities Brocker on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). Starting in 2008, she expanded her horizon to the social area, focusing in the Guatemalan immigration problem and establishing himself as a social leader, for whose participation she receives a diploma in Political Science from the Rafael Landívar University of Guatemala and she is named Ambassador of La Paz in the National Palace of Guatemala in the year 2010. In 2011 she participated as an international observer in the Guatemalan national elections.

This social approach leads her, in the last five years, to crown her dream of life: The creation of her own non-profit organization, VILLATORO’S GLOBAL FOUNDATION, whose mission is to provide help to people in extreme need anywhere on the planet.

Today, Claudia Villatoro continues trying to make a difference in a Guatemala with many needs, and her efforts have focused on bringing purified water to many marginalized homes, in addition to working on social projects that will have an important social impact in the years to come.

LAURA A RAYMOND, MA

VP & Communications Director

Laura Raymond was born in Toronto, Canada, and moved to the United States in 2000 where she attended the University of Central Florida, earning her B.A. in Communication and an M.A. in Interpersonal Communication. For the last 10 years, Laura has taught Public Speaking and Communication at Broward College and was awarded Professor of the Year 2019-2020.

Laura is well-rounded culturally, loves food, is well-traveled, and maintains dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada. Laura has always been passionate about helping those who are underprivileged and has a strong sense of devotion to the nonprofit sector. Laura abides by her lifelong motto “Do good. Be good.”

Laura is also a member of Cirlculo Nacional de Prensa, the national press of Guatemala.

DR. EDUARDO PRADO

Executive Director Guatemala

Eduardo is a Doctor in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuroscience. He has MA’s in Media Administration, Communication, and Journalism. He has been President of the National Press Circle, the National Sports Council, and a teacher at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala. Appointed Ambassador of Migrant Peoples in the United States in 2000, he was awarded the title of Comendador de Santiago de los Caballeros. Eduardo is a businessman, writer, and journalist

ESTHER SCHLAGHECK

Executive Director Guatemala

Esther Schlagheck comes from german origin, was born in Namibia, and raised in Germany. Esther has a Diploma in Hospitality Management. She has worked most of her life in the Hospitality Industry in work environments that require her to travel a lot. Having been to more than 90 countries and living in 7, she has a vast knowledge of cultures all across the globe.

As a global traveler, she developed a great love for Central America. Esther spent several months in Guatemala, where she lived with a local family in rural surroundings learning about the culture and being fluent in Spanish. Claudia Abascal Villatoro and Esther Schlagheck met in 2015 in the South of Guatemala, they have been in touch ever since.

Esther has always been very passionate about the environment and humanitarianism hoping to help people that are less fortunate. With her vast knowledge of cultures and living environments all across the globe, she is a great asset to VGF.

ARMANDO DEL CID

Armando started working at a young age in the airline industry. The legendary Pan Am Airways was his first employer and after that, he made his way up the executive ladder working with several other highly renowned airlines including United Airways, Martinair Holland, Copa Airlines, and most recently Spirit Airlines.

He has also served as a university professor for a number of Guatemalan and Honduran universities, such as Universidad Panamericana, Universidad Galileo, and Unitec University, where he shares his professional expertise teaching at the Master’s degree program.

Armando holds a master’s degree in Finance and Marketing, Project Management Specialization, and Strategic Planning degree. He has attended Stanford in the USA and Anahuac University in Mexico.

He is a seasoned traveler and enjoys cooking and reading. Armando is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, and is currently studying Latin.

His passion for helping his country is evident in his efforts to pursue innovative ways of bringing quality of life to those in need in Guatemala.
